Need a Sundial

Sundials - telling time since 1500BC
Amazingly sundials have been around since as far back as 1500 BC! They were originally used by the Egyptians and are the oldest form of time-telling known to man. The idea behind them is very simple: a central shaft casts a shadow (using light from the sun). As the sun rises and sets, the light moves and so does the shadow. By working out where the shadow is on the Sun dial's face, it's possible to work out (if perhaps a little crudely) the time of day. Sundials are an ancient and beautiful way of telling the time.

Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to be rich to own your own sundial. You could make one yourself for your garden, or they are available pre-made, in various shapes and sizes from Krupps.
